Hi guys! I know I’ve been doing a lot of food blogs filled with delicious treats for you guys to try, but today I’m going to give some food for thought, instead of your stomach. Enjoy!
So recently, about a week ago, I got a notification on my blog saying ‘Congratulations, you’ve had your blog for two years now!’ And honestly, I was so surprised. I mean, 2 years?? That went quickly! But the thing is, when I first signed up to WordPress, I was 8, and the only reason I even did it was because my mum was doing it. The Internet was still a relatively new concept, and apart from the basics and the few sites I usually visited, I didn’t really know too much about it. I never knew what to write, who to write for and even why I was doing the damn thing in the first place! So despite my good intentions, I wrote about two posts and then just forgot all about the blog…for an extremely long time.
Nearly a year and a half later,on June 11 2016, to be precise, the topic of blogs suddenly came up in a conversation with me and my friends during our lunch break. That’s when I suddenly remembered I had a blog. I miraculously still remembered my site name and password, and after much persuasion from my friends, wrote a blog, named ‘Friends’ describing some of the crazy people that I choose to spend my time with. And after that, well as they say, the rest is history.
But after that one post, it opened up a whole new world for me. I suddenly had this new creative outlet, a way to express myself, and I was loving it. I began to invest increasingly longer amounts of time into my blog, and it became a big part of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t and I’m not some sort of blogging guru. I still don’t know what to write about sometimes, I never post frequently enough, and I still make rookie mistakes. But I am learning. About tags, featured images, socialising and connecting with other bloggers and a whole other bunch of stuff.
But was there any point to that very long story? Yes, actually. It was that even though WordPress thinks I’ve been in this crazy little world for two years, it’s not actually even been one in my eyes. 😜😎
